T.S. Eliot's fractured, apocalyptic work The Waste Land marked such a break between Romantic verse and 20th-century modernism that poet William Carlos Williams said "it wiped out our world as if an atom bomb had dropped upon it." This five-part journey through a fragmented landscape of scenes and voices in a post-war world is particularly suited to theatrical presentation, thanks to its dramatic force and multi-voiced structure. Nicholas Rudall joins a cast of leading Chicago stage actors under the skilled direction of Bernard Sahlins, promising to make this a singular experience.
