Acknowledging the human suffering and tragedies that are often deeply rooted in historical and politically charged landscapes, Mendez addresses issues of power, property, and visibility in his four-channel sound installation, "So long as we can say this is the worst, this is not the worst." Adhering packing tape and duct tape directly to that gallery walls, Mendez creates a seemingly impenetrable installation that alludes to various notions of constraint in society.
