Walead Beshty

Four–Sided Picture (Red/Green/Blue/Yellow) December 31, 2006, Valencia, CA, 2007

Chromogenic development print

Restricted gift of Karen and Daniel Lee.

Walead Beshty has examined photography from the inside-out, playing with its inherent materials and processes while still making captivating images. As one art writer described the images: “Rich with swirling colors and reminiscent of the chemical baths that produced them, the pictures are the result of folding photographic paper so that it becomes a surface of angles and planes, corners and creases, and, when processed, a photo of nothing but itself.”
